Save the date – June 15th – Cruinniú na nÓg celebrating creativity in young people

Do you have an idea for a creative event for children and young people that you would like to see happen?

Cruinniú na nÓg 2019 - the national day of creativity for children and young people - will take place on Saturday 15th June this year. The model is similar to Culture Night except that events are held during the day, making them much more accessible to children and young people.

So if you work with children and young people in someplace like a school, crèche or youth club, now is the time to do something really special. Have a chat with them, see what they’re interested in and develop a plan together. Maybe they’ve always wanted to make a film, perform in a band, do some incredible experiments, or explore their own community in a creative way. If you’ve got an idea, we can help make it happen.

Closing date for applications is Monday 1st April.

Cruinniú na nÓg celebrating creativity in young people

Thanks to everyone who orgnasied events for Leitrim's first Cruinniú na nÓg, and to all the children and young people and their parents who came out on the day. Creative Ireland had their cameras with them and stopped by Manorhamlton and Effernagh and made this fabulous film clip. Take a look!

Next year we'll be looking to support more groups that want to organise events and activities for children and young people for Cruinniú na nÓg 2019. If you want to be kept informed make sure and join the arts office mailing list. The link is in the menu on the left.

Leitrim County Council publishes Culture & Creativity Strategy 2018 - 2022

At its last meeting, the members of Leitrim County Council adopted the council's first Culture & Creativity Strategy. The vision of Creative Ireland is that every person in Ireland will have the opportunity to fully realise his or her creative potential. The Creative Ireland Vision for Leitrim is to nurture and foster creative expression in all its diversity; embrace and welcome new ideas; and create the conditions to help turn those ideas into reality and embed creativity into all aspects of the social, economic and cultural life of Leitrim. The new strategy sets out the priorities to achieve that objective in a comprehensive plan and as well as achieving that under the Creative Ireland programme, a central purpose of the strategy is to act as guidance and a key influencer in the development of all cultural policies and corporate planning developed during the tenure of the Creative Ireland programme.
